The first page of the December 2019 issue presents a report on the latest US hogs and pigs report. Pages 2 and 3 present a review of the EU’s medium term outlook. Page 4 presents the charts for the global pig price index and its components. Page 5 presents the price charts for European pig prices in the last three months. Page 6 describes the Canadians’ October export numbers. On page 7 the USA’s exports are presented for October 2019. On page 8 Australia’s trade data are presented – imports soar and exports dive in October 2019. On page 9 we see a weakening trend for Japanese demand for imported pork. Page 10 reports on the continuing fall in demand for pork imports in South Korea in November 2019. Page 11 describes official data for Chinese pig prices, and a GIRA table for the largest hog producers in China.

News in short on page 12 has short reports on Japan’s cold storage shortage, Danish Crown’s results, ASF in Vietnam and Indonesia. China’s plan to recover from ASF, McKinsey’s latest China consumer survey, CPF’s latest outlook, a review of antibiotic use in global pig production, and the US Pork Board’s GIRA report on the next 20 years in China. On the back page there is the price monitor for 18 countries and the chart of the month – weaner prices in the EU, and the short view of pig prices in the USA, EU and China in the next four weeks.
