The June 2010 issue of Whole Hog opens on the front page with a review of UK pig prices and asks if they have reached their peak. An interview with Ted McKinney and feature on Elanco completes page 2. Page 3 details the latest move up for the pig price cycle. Page 4 describes how the sow and hogs inventory has fallen in the North American herd.  Page 5 notes that the Danes are leading an EU price recovery. An analysis of the Spanish herd and its pigmeat production is given on page 6. Q1 2010 trade data for Canada indicate that pork exports are growing on page 7 whereas Q1 data show the opposite for US pork exports on page 8. Australia’s appetite for pork imports is described on page 9. On the next page  Japan's imports are seen to have declined in the first few months of 2010 but the Danes and the Canadians have increased their sales. Apart from the Canadians the South Korean market is also weakening, as shown by the table on page 10. News in Short on page 11 covers; German meat production in Q1 2010, Czech pig industry losses and the growth in imports, Brazil’s exports, Austria’s pig numbers, and a UK-sourced film on factory farming released on YouTube. Company results on page 12 include details of Cherkizovo’s greenfield investments in the regions of Penza and Lipetsk, Cranswick’s interim results for the full year ended 31 March 2010, and JSR’s joint venture in China to build a nucleus site in Hubei province.
