The July 2011 issue of Whole Hog begins with coverage of the US Hogs and Pigs report and signs of a recovery in the US breeding herd. The German breeding herd and exports record falls in 2011 according to data on page 2. Page 3 describes a new record high set for this Millennium for the global pig price cycle.  Page 4 describes FAO's view that the global supply of pigmeat will be lower than the total in 2010. Page 5 sets out the FAO data that details the pork export boom to Asia. It's steady as she goes for Canadian pork exports on page 7 but US pork exports make significant gains on page 8. Page 9 notes the fall back in Australian imports and a faltering export trade. US exports to Japan lead the pack in Q1 2011 accoding to data shown on page 10 and the South Korean market shows even more gains in the latest trade data. News in Short on page 11 sets out reports on; French pork production, the EU's latest pig numbers as described by the EU Pig Management Committee, Danisco's latest research breakthrough on using phytate in animal nutrition, the EU-South Korean FTA, US data on pigmeat stocks, and a COOL labelling move by the European Parliament. Company results on page 12 include Smithfield's record results for fiscal 2011 Q4, and JBS Brazil's intention to begin a share buy back programme.  The Global Price Monitor table for 17 countries completes the back page.
